Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
Is This a NO CHURN Ice Cream?
Yes! This is a NO CHURN Ice Cream!
Does It Taste the Same As Store Bought Ice Cream?
No, it doesn't taste the same. It has a heavier flavor and a slightly different mouth feel.
Can I Add Flavors To This 3 Ingredient Ice Cream?
Yes!
- I recommend adding some crumbled sandwhich cookies,
- Add Candy Bar crumbles
- How about some nuts?
- Chocolate Syrup Swirl anyone?
Is Making Your Own Ice Cream Cheaper?
- Actually, no, it isn't. It costs about the same or maybe a little more!
- But you don't have to go to the store if you already have the ingredients!
How Long Does It Take To Make This Ice Cream?
- You will need to allow it to freeze for about 8 hours.
It ONLY takes a few minutes to mix up though.
What are the ingredients for a 3 INGREDIENT ICE CREAM?
I didnโt save the issue (boo on me!), I certainly canโt find it now, I didnโt have the directions, but I do remember the ingredients:
- whipping cream
- sweetened condensed milk
- vanilla.
In a moment of desperation, I did a little experiment and found that you really CAN make this easy and simple ice cream with only three ingredients! YUM! Not entirely my own idea โ but I had to go with what I could remember.
What Is Different About a No Churn Ice Cream?
- This ice cream has a little smoother consistency than store bought ice cream and doesnโt have the crystallized bumps of home made ice cream (YUM).
- Instead, it is smooth as silk and is best served with a sweet/tart dessert like my Rustic Blueberry Galette! or maybe even a Blueberry Cobbler!
- FYI, served on itโs own, I find this ice cream almost too sweet for my taste, but served over a hot tart dessert, it is THE BEST!
Please note: I DID NOT say that Easy 3 Ingredient Freezer Ice Cream is a diet friendly ice cream.
If you are looking for a diet friendly ice cream that will look good on your waistline tomorrow , then please, keep looking.
This is not it!
But if you want a tasty, creamy, ice cream to serve on your berry dessert then stay right where you are and go grab this stuff from your fridge and pantry.
TIPS & TRICKS for 3 Ingredient Ice Cream
- Chill the whipping cream VERY WELL before using (you might even stick it in the freezer for 10 minutes before using).
- It never hurts to chill the sweetened condensed milk either.
- This is a SWEET dessert! You will want to pair it with something like a berry pie, blackberry cobbler or something tart!
PRO TIP: Chill the bowl of your stand mixer by putting it in the freezer. This helps the cream to whip up quickly!
WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE THIS RECIPE
Personally, I use my stand mixer, but those are expensive. You can just as easily use a hand mixer for this job. Pick one up inexpensively at a yard sale or a thrift store. This particular one was on sale when I added this link, so that might even be the best bet. These loaf pans are SUPER nice, I have some! When you aren't making ice cream in them, they are PERFECT for Pecan Banana Bread! Again, you can click the photo to go through to Amazon to compare prices and I am an affiliate of Amazon and will earn a commission if you make a purchase.

It's kinda funny to think about the foolishness of God, but I get the point.
1 Corinthians 1:25
For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

Can I use maple syrup or honey instead of condensed milk?
Wendi Spraker says
Hi Stephanie!
In lots of recipes, the sweetened condensed milk is there mostly for the sweetness, in this recipe the sweetened condensed milk is taking the place of the milk/cream base as well as the sugar for the ice cream. Therefore, honey or maple syrup wouldn't work in this case. Thanks for asking though! ๐ Wendi
Stephanie says
Ohh, thank you! Would it work if I put in maple syrup/honey in milk, then use it as a substitute for the condensed milk?
Wendi Spraker says
Hi Stephanie, I'm not sure that would work, but I guess you could try? I think for this recipe though, you should probably stick to the sweetened condensed milk (since there are so few ingredients)
Wendi says
This sounds amazing, I am totally going to make it! Has anyone added fresh or frozen berries of any kind? To add that little tart?
Wendi Spraker says
Hi!
Berries would probably work great although I haven't tried it myself. This ice cream is VERY sweet and therefore I think the berries would do it wonders! Thanks!

I work in a retirement home I came across this article while I was looking for an easy way to make ice cream. I seen just 3 ingredients and thought I would try it. Well needless to say my residences enjoyed the ice cream but I put my own twist to by adding powdered sugar and chopped up frozen peanut butter cookies and a little baking coco and I had a peanut butter cup ice cream
Wendi Spraker says
Oh I'm so glad you left this comment. You made my heart happy! Your changes sound wonderful too!

I don't know why not? Give it a try and see what happens. (Just in case you might want to have store bought handy in case the experiment goes awry. Lol)
