Tips and Tricks for Perfect Chocolate Rod Pretzels with Peppermints
- We have made these with both chocolate chips and with melting chocolate candy and prefer the candy type coating. It melts well, hardens quickly and the toppings stick easily to it.
- Coating the oreos works best if you have a shallow tray or plate to put the chocolate in and then roll the oreo in the chocolate.
- The same works for the topping, place it on a plate and then sprinkle on the topping.
- It’s easiest to only coat the top 1/3 of the oreo, but people seem to like oreos with about 2/3 dipped in chocolate.
- Lay these on a sheet of parchment paper or wax paper to cool and allow the chocolate to harden completely.
- The little plastic bags that are for individually wrapping cookies make a suitable cover for the oreos.
- And HEY! If you want to share with someone about the history of candy canes and impress them beyond belief (or bore them) then go learn about that right here!

I’m sure you have been on the brunt end of someone else’s lies. I know I have. Honesty is always the best policy. Always.
Proverbs 6:16-19
There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.

So quick and easy. I used white chocolate coating, and they taste even better than the expensive ones from the store.
