Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)
Can I Make Ghirardelli Brownies in a 9×13 Pan?
Yes! You can, but you will need to make a double batch OR expect thin brownies. Either way works! It’s really best to use a 9×9 pan.
How Long Do You Bake Ghirardelli Brownies in a 9×13 Pan?
Bake these brownies in a 9×13 pan for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick or cake pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
How To Make Ghirardelli Brownies Better.
Honestly, these are the best and it is near impossible to make them BETTER!
HOWEVER, if you have a DEEP 9×9 pan, make a double batch in the 9×9 pan. It makes the thickest and most delicious chocolatey brownies you EVER tasted!
Do not forget to add the semi-sweet chocolate chips that are included in the mix!
We love to occasionally add icing and/or candies to the top! That does make it slightly better!
How Long Do I Bake a 2 Boxes of Ghirardelli Brownies?
Bake a double mix of 2 boxes of Ghirardelli Brownies 30-35 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
How Many Eggs Do I Add to Ghirardelli Brownie Mix?
You will be adding one egg to the mix, unless you are making a double batch or if you are making cookies from the mix. Then it will be more. You can mix the whole thing in a medium bowl unless making a double batch, then use a large bowl.
How To Make Cookies from the Ghirardelli Mix.
To make cookies,
- In a bowl, mix together the mix, 3 tablespoon all purpose flour, 2 eggs, ⅓ Cup vegetable oil and 1 Cup chocolate chips or butterscotch chips.
- Spoon out by even spoonfuls onto a parchment lined baking sheet and bake at 350 for 10 minutes.
How Can I Tell if My Ghirardelli Brownie Mix Recipe is Done?
The best way is to know that the whole pan has turned into a brownie from the batter you placed in the oven.
Use a toothpick, stick it into the center of the pan and pull it back out. If you see brownie batter sticking to the toothpick anywhere, then you know it isn’t baked all the way through.
When the toothpick comes out clean, then you’ll know that the whole thing is baked all the way through.
If My Brownies Aren’t Done, Can I Put Them Back In The Oven?
Yes, just push the whole pan right back into the oven and wait for another 3-5 minutes and check again. Patience is a virtue!
Which Is The Best Ghirardelli Brownie Mix?
Our family likes either the double or the triple chocolate mix! There are small pieces of chocolate in the batter that just takes it over the top!
Can I Make My Ghirardelli Brownies More Cakey?
Yes! Adding another egg will make the whole batch cakey instead of so chewy. This is true of most recipes.
How Can I Keep My Brownies From Getting Hard Over Night?
If your brownies get hard overnight, it is because they dried out in the air. Make sure to cover the pan very well using either plastic wrap or aluminum foil and cover tightly.
Conversely, you can put your brownies in a resealable bag or in gladware/tupperware with a tight fitting lid.
Store at room temperature in an airtight container.
Do I Need To Cover My Brownies with Foil While Cooking?
No, you do not need to cover your brownies with foil while cooking.

James 1: 13-14
Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.

Betty Walk says
I want to make brown bites using a min muffin pan. I am using Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Brownie Mix. The box state 325 degrees to bake. How long would I bake them?
Thank you so much for answering my question!
Wendi Spraker says
Hi Betty, I've never made brownie bites this way. I would start with about 15 minutes and see where they are and then check every 3-5 minutes until done.
Suzan says
Can I bake these in a tray style mini loaf pans? If so, how long and at what temperature?
Wendi Spraker says
Hi Suzan, I am sure you can but I am not sure how long or what temperature. I've never made them that way.
Kevin Garvey says
I mistakenly added 1/2 cup of vegetable oil rather than 1/3 cup and the brownies are like pudding. Is there anything I can do to correct this mistake?
Wendi Spraker says
Do you have another brownie mix? You could make a double batch and when you add the second batch, just add the difference in the two amounts of vegetable oil. If you want regular thickness brownies, put in a 9x13 pan, but putting in a 9x9 will work too, it just makes thick brownies. You DO have to bake them longer.
Kevin Garvey says
@Wendi Spraker, Thanks, I don't have another brownie mix; was just hoping to "save" the brownies already made.
Wendi Spraker says
OK. That's the only way that I know how to fix it. Sorry!
Wendi Spraker says
I mean, you could try to bake it anyway and see what happens.

Smarter than you says
SERIOUSLY? All you do is copy the recipe off the back of the box. Like, people are that stupid they need your instructions??
You're clogging up the internet.
Wendi Spraker says
Hi "Smarter than you", I'm so glad you left such a sweet comment. It goes right along with the recipe! No, absolutely not, people are not stupid. They are actually very smart. Most people who read this recipe are looking to see what is involved in making this kind of brownie so that they can make their grocery list or decide if the recipe will be something that they want to tackle. From your comment, I am surmising that you already know how to make brownies from a box and so I'm wondering how and why you clicked over to this recipe at all? I'm also wondering why you think that you are smarter than me? I fail to see how I am clogging the internet on a website that I pay for? Perhaps you can enlighten me? Oh wait, that's right, you are gone now and off trolling someone else's content leaving useless comments and clogging up the internet with that. Have a terrific day "Smarter than you".
Grateful Girl! says

Wendi Spraker says
Hi Kortney, I have never tried this, but I think it might work. If you give it a try, let me know what happens!
Terri says
@Kortney, I replaced the oil with butter using the same amount and they turned out great.
Janet says
@Wendi Spraker, one day, bajllion yers ago, it dawned on me that the only improvement on this mix would be butter. Unsalted. Yum. I think the mouthfeel is greatly improved.
