Took a bit to try this. It was always a staple at my Mother in laws table. But she bought White hominy and it never had much flavor to me. My husband kept asking for it and I finally got a can of white, heated it up and shoved it his way. It was horrible. I had promised to try again. This time I bought Golden and used your simple recipe. 😁 Now a staple but cooked and Seasoned your way. TY

Having been raised near to Detroit, and coming from a mixed background of Canadian Scots, Protestant Irish, and Ukrainian Germans, during my 72 years I've learned to appreciate the taste of Arab, Mexican (during 7 years of living there), Polish, Jewish (girlfriend and family from Leningrad), Dutch, and English foods. (Coming to respect the benefits of products available from "health food" stores has also helped.)
Finally, living in the very deep South for the last 23 years has certainly added to that palate which can only be enriched by learning to prepare and enjoy regional and ethnic foods.

I made short ribs that I slow cooked all day in the oven. Decided to use a can of hominy I had in my pantry. I drained it and added to pan with olive oil, petite diced tomatoes, sauteed baby kale and a spoonful of homemade sweet pea pistachio pesto. Finished w a pat of butter. Layed the short ribs on top with some of the delicious vegetable marsala ragu over the top! Glad I found this can!
