- Salt
- Pepper
- Sugar

TIPS AND TRICKS FOR HOW TO COOK CANNED PEAS ON THE STOVE
- When purchasing your peas, you might want to remember that the early small peas usually the best tasting. They have a sweeter flavor and the skin is less thick.
- Keep in mind the number of servings for the can you pick and make sure you are cooking enough for everyone who will be at your table. The recipe below is for 2 servings. You can bump up the other ingredients if you need to feed more people.
- Pouring the can water off is important. Some canned food, Iโve noticed has a can taste. You can be assured that the cans with the white plastic lining will not have this taste of metal but since I donโt know which one you have purchased, its better to go with pouring that water off.
TIPS AND TRICKS FOR HOW TO COOK CANNED PEAS ON THE STOVE
- Drain the water from the canned peas. Some cans impart a metal taste and everything will taste better with fresh water.
- Some people will tell you that there is flavor in the water inside the can, but that probably isnโt a flavor you actually want.
- Remember for this recipe and most all recipes, you will want salt, pepper, sweet, a fat and a tiny bit of spice (some recipes you also want some acid). Itโs a good rule of thumb.
- You might enjoy the tiny baby peas more than the full grown big peas, especially if you arenโt a real pea lover to start with. The baby peas are less strong tasting and are generally more sweet.
- When comparing costs, youโll notice that some of the tiny cans actually contain as many actual peas as the larger cans. Just like potato chips, sometimes it's more filler in the can than actual product.
COOK ON HIGH?
- While it might seem like a good idea to turn the stove up on HIGH to get things hot as soon as possible, it will actually do better if you do a medium heat and gently warm the whole pot up together.
- A HOT heat will bring it to a boil fast, but might break your peas apart.
WHAT ABOUT OTHER FLAVORS?
- Feel free to add something to your peas. A lot of people like the taste of peas and carrots together (it also makes a nice color together!). Some people like mushrooms in their peas. Get creative, it can be fun!
- If you only have salted butter, use it and donโt worry about it, just taste the peas before you add too much salt.
- Kosher salt is good to use because it is difficult to add too much, the grain is large and it is easy to actually pinch in your fingers. If you only have regular table salt, start with ยผ teaspoon and increase as needed to taste.
- If you donโt have garlic or onion powder, then you may leave those off. However, the peas usually taste better with those items added for flavor.

A VERSE TO SHARE
Today I just want to share some of the word for everyone to digest. There isnโt much that I need to add. Youโll understand the meaning when you read the scripture.
Matthew 19: 13-15.
Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them.
Jesus said, โLet the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.โ When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.
